Hign revs???

He everyone as Im only new to the 4th Gen Maxima model and yet to learn abit more about them and the Engine I have a question that I would like answered if possible.

I was driving home the other night on the freeway I used cruise control and when I got home I put car in park (Auto) I noticed the revs on the tacho where about 1300rpm at idle. I thought this is strange... I stabed the pedal and gave car a little blast but it still sat back at 1300rpm. So I turn car off and on again and it idle normal at about 700rpm! Is this normal after use of crusie control? Does the acelerator pedal wire stick or something? But once car is off then on again its runs fine. I just got car so I ask this as I have warranty and can get it fixed if its a problem..... Anyone know what problem is?? or is it just normal? Thnaks :P

Do a search and you might find something.

Do another search for IACV (idle air control valve), this might be the problem.

It could very well be the cruise control not fully releasing. If you turn off the cruise contol power switch down on the left side of your dash, does your idle fall back to normal?

I have the same problem, so I'm looking into it. I'm looking at the Idle air control valve, and in my haynes manual I was reading about the selenoid (sp?) right next to the IACV. This selenoid is used to increase the RPMs when the car is warming up. If it's malfunctioning it will not allow the RPMs to go to normal levels cause it behaves as if the car is still warming up.
