Question about ordering from Avalon Racing

I was about to order something off of avalon racing, online and then when i was typing my billing info they asked about all this silly **** about my credit card like the 3 digit number on the back of my card and the customer service number for my credit card and what bank i got my card from... i was like hol'up dowg!?! hit the x button and decided to see if anybody ever got the same sh@t as i did? so let me know if you've ever ordered from there and they asked the same questions on the billing info and if your purchase came through with no hassle or any thing...

Its normal, for anti-fraud purposes.

Yeah

Yeah, it's normal. I got the same treatment when I signed up for PayPal. Just don't give out your SSN.

I've always had good luck dealing with Avalon. Good place. It seems a lot of places now are starting to ask for the security code on the back of the credit card, everyone's starting to crack down on fraud.

The reason they do that is because Paul had some problems with Credit Card orders in the past. He had some people order parts with fraud credit cards, and lost out a lot of cash. Avalon is a great company and if you don't feel secure about the internet than call them up. Paul can help you out. 603-425-2270 is their number!

Re: Re: Question about ordering from Avalon Racing

The security check verifies that the person placing the order actually is the card holded. We had a huge rash of credit card fraud during a 1 month period. The unfortunite part was it was all Maxima parts.

This is no reflection on the Forum or it's meembers. We do this check on all orders randomly.

We had three orders the the other day we turned over to the FBI. The orders were to ship to Indonesia and the card billing address in the US. We called the US numbers and none of the pareties ordered any parts nor knew anyone in Indonesia.

These orders were copied and sent to our contact at the FBI.

To keep our prices as low as possible we have to be careful on all orders.

I'm always weary of international orders since address verification applies to parties in the United States. Unless I know the person, I ask for a faxed/mailed copy of their last CC billing statement.

Re: Question about ordering from Avalon Racing

the reason for the issuing bank phone number is address verification as well as to get authorization codes if there is a problem when charging the card.

I work for a mail order computer parts warehouse and we have been doing this for 6 years now and more and more companies are starting to do it. when someone wants to ship something to an alternate address we will only ship it to the registered/verified alternate shippng address. the only way to check this for the time being is calling customer service.
