Spanking a BMW 740i

Hi,
I read that Rob AE spanked a 740, I think it is possible, but how many other person out there raced a 740 before.

Like Rob AE said you have to tried to see for yourself, anyway just wanted to see how many other had challenge the big bad 282 hp with over 324 lb torque monster.

Thanks

Doesn't that car have a 12 cylinder engine? You would have to have some massive mods and f/i to beat the 740.

740 and 745 are V8s, the 750 is the V12.

Yeah, the 740 is a V8 4.4L...
And anyway, even with 280 HP, that thing weighs over 4200 lbs so it should do 0-60 in like 7-7.5 sec... not much of a challenge if you ask me.

I spent a day at Sears Point in the Maxima about 2 years ago. There was a 540 there that was a test tuner for Dinan, and I ran close to him all day. I think I only had an intake at the time. Surprised a few folks (including me). Beemers are pretty heavy. When I was into Alfa Romeos, we used to laugh at how heavy and awkward the BMWs were in comparison (back then they were our natural prey; Audis were flat out dinosaurs). I finally drove a 318i for 3 months in Europe, and it might as well have been a Caprice.

Those 740s are so HEAVVVVY. Even with a stock auto you should be able to take it. But, those 530i's with a 5 speed are a different story...

I do believed some magazine clocked the 2001 740i at 6.1 sec, if that is true can the max still spank it or come close to it.

Thanks

I beat one, very badly. It happened 2 saturdays ago. We got off at the same exit and was asking me what mods i had done to the engine and i told him nothing, it all depends on the driver with any car.

My modded auto wouldnt stand a chance agianst my Dad's old 98 740iL. These cars are fast modded 5spds can take them out of a light but dont play gmes with hem on the highway. Briguymax has a fully modded 5spd andhe had to use his NOS to beat one....keep that in mind.

Maybe off the line my frined has a new Escalde but no way will it take a 97 or newer 750iL 0-60. They have 5.2 litre engines with 320+HP and i beilev over 360 foot pounds of torque.

i have got to say that the 740i's are slow off of the line because of the weight, but once those things get going, they fly like no other. if you took it off the line, you would have a good chance of winning, but if you were already moving, i don't know

I thought an Escalade packed a 6.0L V-8 with 345hp.

It does but it also damn near 3 tons, they haul *** off the line. They have no chance vs any newer v-8 BMW to 60.
