fastening your mesh homemade grille?

Could someone tell me how this is done and with what. Preferably for the 96. I have heard people say that they use twist ties...but is this really secure?
Thanks,

i used this thin wire that is for picture frames, i think... anyways... i have a 97 and for each individual hole in the grill, i drilled holes into the corner of the fins... then i just used the thin wire too attach it to the grill... an easy way to get it really tight is by using my drill, i fed the ends of the wire up into it and tightened the ends of the wire into the chuck, just like you would add a drill bit to it... then by softly squeezed on the trigger, it will quickly and tightly zip up the wires... then snip to about a quarter of an inch and presto!

hope this helps you out some...

much respect,
mike

What I used was...

those plastic ties....where you loop it around and through itself.
they're called "multi-purpose ties"...product number MR-10440
from Home Depot (in the electronics section) for like $1.50

It works, its secure, and you can't see 'em!

alright, well with these "multi-purpose ties", did you just loop them around the back of one of the fins and twist it in front of the grille or what did you do?

First, take off the grille --> 97-99s have two clips...95-96s have 4 bolts (?) Do a search on this, that's how I found out.

Second, with the grille off, I loop the tie through the front, and connect at the back of the grille -- you can't notice them unless your less than 6 inches from the grill...

The ties don't twist....it feeds into a loop at the end of the tie...

Hope this helps! I'll have pics of my grill soon!

Go to your local wal mart , Home Depot etc.

Ask where the picture hanging stuff is.
Look through the selection of wire.
Get the thinnest strongest wire available that matches your grill cover.
If you can, take your whole grill off.
Attach at strategic locations.
If this is done right, you cannot see the wire

no offence...

but for the MOST conselled fastening to your grille... use the wire... i can be about 3 feet from the grille and unless i'm lookin RIGHT at the wire, i don't even see that it's there... if you're like me, you don't wanna have zip ties everywhere on your car so i hope this helps...

much respect,
mike

I used the wire/zip ties also. It worked well on the upper section but on the lower 2 parts it was a real hassle and you can kinda of see them if you look for them. No one else notices but I will probably take off the bumper to get from behind and do it right with some of that wire...

I used the wire, too. It's like 18 or 20 gauge galvanized wire - comes in a spool @ your local home improvement store. Better than zip ties imho, b/c it matches the grille material & can't be as easily seen.
