Question-99 GLE

I want to get bigger rims on my 99 GLE. Maybe 18's or 19's. However, I don't want to loose the smooth ride. I've read that you need to lower the car for it to look right with bigger wheels. But lowering affects the ride. Is there any fix for this?

You will if you go 18 or 19. My 17s even made a small dent in the smoothness.

With my 17X8 rims, I had a 4X4 look that I could not stand. The H&R springs that I have now are NICE. The ride was not compromised very much and it was not much lower. If you DO NOT want to lose your smooth ride, leave the car alone. Although like I said, the combo I have is not bad though.

Well, I know my ride will suffer some. I was just wondering what would be the most comfortable combination. These H&R's sound like they might work. How much lower did you have to drop your car?

Front drop is 1.4 and back is 1.3. With 235/45/17 on 17X8 rims, I love it and will swear by it. It looks good but not so low that people will notice. The 4X4 look is GONE! I also kept the stock strut/shocks because all I really cared about was looks and not performance. It I want a Corvette ride/handling, I,ll buy a Corvette.
