Headlight is melting!

I installed Showoff Krypton headlights (80w) and the right side just went out!. I checked and the thing that connects to the bulb (name?) is melting. Can I just buy a new connector (the thing that connects to the bulb) or I have to get the APC harness?

BTW, this is happening 8 months after I installed them

Yep thats the warning with when you go overwattage on your bulbs. You might be able to get a new connector at a dealership or maybe a junkyard but risk either the same problem again or having it burning out wires somewhere else and giving you more problems. Might as well upgrade the harness and be done with it.

You can pick up 9004 harnesses at any Pep Boys or auto parts store, just look in there electrical section. You can connect them right in to the wires for your old melted harness. BUT!! They will also melt! I would say get the APC harness if you really want to run those bulbs.

The stock 9004 harnesses in Maximas can only handle a safe wattage of 65W or less. Any higher wattage will MELT the harness, or sometimes the bulb may even explode from overheating. That's when you'll definitely run into problems, because the shattered glass will be sitting inside your headlight. You MUST upgrade to a higher wattage harness!
