blown fuse/lights...please HELP!
blown fuse/lights...please HELP!
I was working on hooking up a light to a switch.....i wired it to the tail l. fuse and grouded to bolt on chasis....but at one point i 4got to turn my lights off, and was working on the switch & wires...and boom i see a spark...and everything goes off.....My headlights work fine......but all my other lights dont. I checked the fuse for Tail L. & all the other fuses on the fuse block and they are fine. My front side markers, aftermark fogs, tail lights, inside cig lighter, guage cluster, among others ......... are all out.
HOW CAN I FIX THIS!??????
HOW CAN I FIX THIS!??????
sounds to me like you tapped into the wrong side of the fuse...the UNFUSED side. you blew the lead that goes from the light switch to the control box for the lights. try running a wire from your a constant 12 volt source to the fuse you tapped, and see if your lights and stuff will come on. if they do, you need to run another lead from your battery to the front side of your light switch (that outta be REAL FUN.)
if the lights still won't come on, let me know, and i'll do a little research and figure you out a fix.

The only thing is thou.....that im pretty sure i didn't tap the wire into the wrong side of the fuse...cuz it was all working fine...then i decided to make the 3 wires going to the 3 prongs on the switch more secure...and when i started to disconnect/reconnect on switch ...that's when i got spark.
thanks........what do i do now?!!

u have blown fuse....look on your fuse block (its this thing right above/next to the lever to open hood...take that little piece out and look at all those fuses...on the cover u just removed look for the name "TAIL L." then locate it on your fuse block...its a 7.5amp...it will prbably be broken..u can tell if the metal piece instead plastic is broken...just go to auto shop and buy 7.5 and replace.)

Maybe, just a word of advice...always disconnect the GROUND from the battery....you'll run into less problems of shortening anything.

um......don't u reset the ECU when u disconnect battery?...anyways...the whole point was for me to keep testing lights/switches as i kept going through the entire process.....so i wouldn't end up doing a 2-3hr job, and then end up with a non working design.
Sorry, I thought it might help, because I know anytime I work on wiring in my car, I always disconnect the ground from the battery. I started doing this, because one time I ran into a problem of shortening fuse(s) and it took me forever to find the short. Nissan cars have too many accessories running off the same circuit. When one fails, you can guarantee that a number of other things are burned out as well.

kept blowing so i went with a 10...wat
do u suggest i do if a 7.5 will keep blowing?
and what will happen if i keep the 10 in there?
MY PROBLEM FIXED!!!
yahoooooooooooooo!!!
the problem wasn't as big as it seemed...a 15amp fuse under the hood on driverside had blown...and i just mis looked that fuse box...because its very strange for a fuse to be blown there....it almost all instances the fuse blows under steering column.
so im very happy....can't wait till nighttime...to turn my neons on----they are hooked up to a red illuminating switch.
