wondering how I would go at cleaning the VQ engine on my white '98 SE - steam cleaning or w/ the stuff sold at suto stores? + will it harm the electronics and does anyone recommend it??

My 98SE has 110K miles (i'm original owner), and I havent cleaned the engine once before !!
I didnt feel like covering up the elec parts, so I didn't cover them.
I just used a can of engine cleaner.
1. Spray the engine cleaner, coccentrate on dirty parts.
2. Wait 5 min and rinse off.
3. Take a damp paper towel and clean the brake fluid, power steering containers manually.
Repeat these steps 3 times. I used lots of water, but I didnt run into any problems. It looks a lot cleaner now. I feel squeaky clean myself too.
Hope this helps.
