I just bought a 96 maxima se, and i was wondering what would be the cheapest mod which would add performance for me to get. Please give links if you can.

As far as cheapest? Intake. Cone filter will run you under 50 bucks usually and give you a few HP.

Or do you look towards handling? A front strut bar costing the same will give you better handling around corners.

Or best performance for the money? A Y pipe from anywhere from 180 - 450 dollars will give you about 15-20HP to the wheels.

Acutally, i was thinking of a cai, but i had no idea which brand was good. Also, i wanted a cai that was generally easy to install. Any suggestions?

Best price for a CAI is going to be warpspeed. They are like 155 with the filter and all hardware included. Pretty easy to install but you will need to cut a hole into your fender.

I live in MA too, im getting a Y-pipe soon and ive asked the same thing and even asked Dallas at Warpspeed. He said that it removes the precats---- so as long as the car is nice and warmed up really really good, it should pass with no problem. He also told me he hasnt had anyone complaining about emissions failures up north here.

Even the aluminized Mandrel bent Y-pipe from WSP is only 225 so thats still pretty cheap considering
