Actually I've got a couple AC/DC trax I like listening to in Max:

Thunderstruck - makes an impression when they catch back up to you and hear "You've been...THUNDERSTRUCK!!!"

Back in Black - Max is Black, so the shoe fits.

Bah. Rock music (metal included) was made for going fast. I guess I can see techno, but it's just waaay too repetitive. I dunno how so many of you can stand listening to rap, though.

i did too, but it's even more fine tuned than just a collection of driving songs.. here's a hint, the CD has three characters emblazoned across it:

W O T

suggestions from you guys that made the cut:
Soundgarden - Rusty Chains
Stone Temple Pilots (STP) - Sex Type Thing
Goldfinger - 99 Red Balloons
Tool - Grudge, Parabola
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

off-shoots of your suggestions:
STP - Wicked Garden, Unglued

from my earlier post:
Sunny Day Real Estate - Snibe

stuff i forgot earlier but is WOT essential material!!:
Pitchshifter - 90% of their stuff that i've heard (i went with Innit, Genius, and WYSIWYG... ate an SVT Contour with dual exhaust the other day on Centre between 131 and Oakland with Genius playing - it was the ****!)

Beatles - Helter Skelter (i dedicate this song to my car "i'm comin' down fast but don't let me break you!" )

Faith No More (FNM) - Surprise, You're Dead! (if the universe has the sense of humor that I trust it does, my inevitable fatal crash will be to this song .. oh, and i did consider Killer Cars by Radiohead, but it's not WOT music)

other stuff that just makes a man wanna go WOT:
Alice in Chains - Them Bones
Pixies - Something Against You, Broken Face
Frank Black - Thalassocracy

the new stuff, i just pulled out of my mp3 collection from what sounded like it might work as WOT fodder.. i'll be listening to my music from now on with an ear tuned to speed and probably make myself a WOT 1.1 once i figure out which stuff on the current cd just doesn't work and what new stuff i want to add

k - now let's hear some WOT suggestions!

other stuff that just makes a man wanna go WOT:

Alice in Chains - Them Bones

Just about anything by Paul Van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, John Digweed, BT, Sasha and Mike Oldenfield would do nicely.

Driving tunes...

Entire CD: Prodigy's "Phat of the Land"
The Propellerheads CD "DECKSANDRUMSANDROCKANDROLL." The tunes that sound best in my Max are "Take California" and "Spybreak!" If you've seen "The Matrix," then you've heard the Propellerheads. "Spybreak!" is the song that is playing when Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are in the lobby of the office building with guns a-blazing.

It's just great driving music. Period.

i can't believe only one person has mentioned rage.... techno is good too, nothing irritates the average big block boys more than hearing the screaching and repeating boom of bass. anyways, here's my two cents...

Crystal Method - Name of the Game
Marilyn Manson - Burning Flag
Daft Punk - Da Funk
Fluke - Atom Bomb
Rage Against the Machine - Bulls On Parade, Know Your Enemy, Street Fighting Man
Linkin Park - With You, Points of Authority

and if you really wanna get on someone's nerves blare some DJ Irene, ex. "Da Bass" or "Hard House Clown"
and for the guy who admitted to listening to video game music, rock on! nothing beats the music from any of the Final Fantasy games

I used to like 'victory' by P Diddy and BIG. But I think I played it out a few years ago. It's still a good song to drive to. I can't think of my other songs right now.

Something old school, rock just sounds to tinny and obnoxious on a clear day with a lot of bass. Try some Biggie or PDiddy w/Mace or if you must have new try ludacris or fabolous with a big subwoofer.

Huh? Too tinny and obnoxious? Rock?

You kiddin', right?

I'll admit that rock doesn't have the sustained type of low-end that hip hop and dance has, but I don't see how Zep (old school) or Tool (newer) would sound tinny.

Metallica-their early stuff (Ride the Lightning, Master) can sound tinny because of the way they were mastered-it was before James and Lars discovered the other end of the mixing board.

Go listen to Big Wreck. The guitar tones those guys play will tickle ya in the cockles.
