search is your friend

but you can tackle this by either cutting off one of the nubs and putting the bulb in, in reverse. this should cause the 22 watt side to be lit all the time. there is also a way to rewire but from what I hear butting the nub is the easy way to go.

Make sure it is the top nub you cut off.

Might be actually. I was just assuming it was the same as mine. His is a 1996. It may be entirely possible that this mod doesnt work for him the same.

I cut the upper nub off and it works great.

I have a 95.

So what does it do? Does it just stay bright all of the time? I know that the 97-99 are just always dim and ours illuminate when the blinker is on. I don't have my max right now, but if this works, I'll be choppin that nub off ASAP.

When you take the bulb out, you'll see that there are two offset nubs on the base of the bulb. These are to ensure that it only fits in the socket one way. You have to cut off the upper one (I used nail clippers) so you can put it in the socket backwards.

This makes it use the bright (27w) filament all the time.

If the bulb seems loose in the socket, smush the metal part of the socket a little with some pliers to hold it tight.

i did that mod early on and i have gone through so many bulbs, its well worth it to get that nasty dim orangy light out of there, but what can sustain the new power for continual use. What bulb brands do you go with?

Do the rewire and get some PolarGs like someone said above and you will be satisfied. Just got my bulbs today and they are really white. Best I've seen so far.

What kind of bulbs have you gone through? I want to do this mod badly, but I have PIAA Xtreme Whites. At $11 a pair, I don't really want to have to keep replacing them.

rewiring or cutting off the nub do the same thing...one is just simpler then the other...
