New Dyno results!

Hey guys

Thought I'd let you know I dynoed today!

The results were:

Drum roll please! .....

352.2 HP and 349 ft-lbs of torque!

How's that for a 4th gen maxima! The clutch kept slipping so it was difficult to get a good dyno chart. I'll scan the chart a bit later

That is at 4 psi, holy cow man. Once I get that manual tranny in, be expecting an order. What else have you done to get those numbers, ie. boost controller, etc. Thanks guy.

hehe! Sorry it's not at 4 psi! Hehe forgot to mention. I have a boost controller and set it to 9.3 psi. When I put it on the exhaust alone, it was 5.5 psi. There wasn't much gain in power, but then again we only did one run and the graph looked funky. The torque was at 294 ft-lbs at 5.5 psi, the power was about 270 HP, it looked really funky though!

I set it to 8.64 psi and it gave about 334 HP. The clutch can't hold it. You'll see a dip in the graphs cos the clutch slipped at 9.3 psi. . Why the odd psi numbers...well it's all in metric so I had to convert.

Now I need to get a new clutch in order to do a proper dyno. . It kicks butt on a drive!

I will scan the chart at about 10 pm MST ... oh all numbers are measured at the wheels.

question for ya ... if I want to run 10 psi, do I need anything else? Like AFC or something? I haven't checked my plugs yet ... I need to do that. Unfortunately, their O2 sensor was not working today, they just got it 2 weeks ago.

That's about as high as I want to go. I will probably keep it at 5.5 psi and hit 9.3 or 10 psi when I need it.

By the way, does anyone have a recommendation on clutch? ACT modified street disc won't hold cos I am pretty close to 400 HP at the crank. The only one he (my tuner)could find was clutchmasters. I don't want pucks!

OK Here is the dyno chart:

Dynorun 12 is actually @ 9 psi not 4 psi. As you can see, the dips are where the clutch gave out on me! It may have made a little more power and torque, but it's hard to tell at this point.

My engine is all stock at the moment. I think I'll hold of on building the motor for now. I am happy with 350 HP . My tuner was even happier than I was. He's an awesome guy. He would have been happy with just over 300 HP!

I checked the plugs to see if I was running lean. They seem to be OK. I think they are running HOT. That is to be expected since I am running stock heat range ... I'll have to do a search, but where's the best place to get 2 heat ranges colder? I'll probably get copper plugs for cleaner ignition spark. How are iridiums?

I will probably go to 10 psi and that will be it. I probably won't bother to Dyno it though until later. That should put me in the 360s+ for HP and torque.

BOOST IS FUN!

I can't wait to see how Alex's turns out. His should show even better results for the same PSI since he has a 60-1 ... more efficient.

I think an ACT street disc should hold your power just fine. SX7R ran 385 tq to his ACT...and it didn't slip at all....I run my 100-shot on my ACT...and have no problems at all....NOS guys know how hard Nitrous hits....and it holds on like a hooker in debt.

Whoa! You're moving out of ACT street clutch range! Maybe try a JWT Stage 2 clutch ...

Do you guys have to worry about reinforcing your front end due to the extra hp?? Does it even matter??

To work this, you'd use smaller turbos. They might spool a bit faster, but you'd probably lose some top end.

Really? The street setup, not pucks? They are only rated to about 35o lbs. of torque, and he's past that already. It might last, but how long? Depends on launches, I suppose. Shred the tires, shred the clutch .... That's why I suggested the JWT Stage 2, rated for more power.

Funny, they don't list clutches for Maxima on their website (Cattman sells them, $425) but they do list TURBOS for Maxima. Anything going on with your setup???

Re: clutch

I'm not sure but I "think" JWT uses another clutch maker as their own kit. Maybe it's a combination of parts but I don't believe JWT is a maker of clutches/pressure plates etc... Kinda like a Stillen deal.

It wouldn't surprise me. Their basic clutch specs very close to ACT. I wonder ... anyway, mine's worked well for me.
