suspensions question very very urgent....

suspensions question very very urgent....

ok i have my strut out on the front left side of my car...i need to get the black peice off at the very top of the assembly and i dont see any screws holding it in place.......how does this peice come off???? please respiond quick i need to put my car together tonight.....thanx, Tom

You have to remove the 17mm nut in the very middle of it. This nut is screwed to the top of the strut piston. It holds the entire works together.

You need to compress the spring to take the tension off the system.

i dont have a spring there i have the coilovers.....there is no tension.....

i tried taking that blot off already...
icant loosen it and keep the strut stable but ill try again...thanx!!!
