I had the very same problem a while ago. The reason the e-brake light stays on, is because you're low on brake fluid. Check your brake fluid, and if it's low, top it off. That's what I did, and the light didn't return.

Check your barke pads too. The reason the fluid goes down is because the pads are getting low and the calipers require more fluid to to make up the difference. That light severs 2 purposes. 1) E brake 2) pad life

Me Too................

It happened to mine a few months ago. But my brakes are fine and fluid is fine. I've used the hand brake for all of my 82,578 miles. So I think and assume that the switch is stuck. It's small and cheap ( about $7.00 I think ). That will be my next approach. Now I have to figure out how to get the console off.

My Ebrake light went off and I couldn't shut it. I opened the boot and looked in and saw one wire loose. It was hitting metal and thinking it was up. I fixed the wire and the problem went away.
