Intake installed, impressions

Finally succeeded in installing my Stillen intake. Since I couldn't fine the Ambient Air Temperature Sensor (A.A.T.S) to plug into the intake hole, I had to use electrical tape to plug it.
I did notice today that a hose (Vaccum hose maybe??) that sits by the air scoop was disconnected, but the car doesn't seem to ride differently.
As for the intake, I did not notice any low end loss, but I couldn't notice extra high end power either. Maybe its all in my head, the gf says that she definetly feels more power. Maybe its from all that rumbling noise coming from the engine now. Its pretty addictive. I made a top speed run on the turnpike and was able to get it to 130 before closing in on traffic. Before the intake, the car would accelarate to 120 very fast and slowly coast to 130. This time she accelarated straight through to 130 without missing a beat. I guess only the track (in two weeks) will tell how much faster she is.

I think the 95-96 are the only ones with the ambient temp sensor in the front, the later VQ's have it integrated before the MAF. Do a hybrid to really notice the difference of an intake, by doing a hybrid, you eliminate one of the more restrictive items of the stock intake, which is the resonator between the TB and MAF.

Just wondering, is there a place that sells the hybrid pipes online? I know frankencar was gonna make them for the 4th gen, but I don't think they have yet. I have a JWT and was thinking about doing the hybrid setup. Any info is appreciated, thanks.

You can buy just the upper pipe from Place Racing. If I remember, it's about $60.

Do a search for custom upper intake. I made one from a thread on here with some stuff I bought at home depot for $15.00. Works great!

do you think you could use a longer pipe, say 6" long so you could get rid of that accordian section? That might actually help you gain some power.

I'm trying to figure that out myself. Everyone I know says that the Accordian section has to go. I just haven't found a solution yet. I'm thinking of trying a 3" ABS pipe with the same outlets for the Valve cover etc., and using 3" to 3" couplings for the connection between the MAF and the TB....

Any input anyone else has would be appreciated.
