Is it difficult to change the speed sensor?

I got back the code for a vehicle speed sensor when I did the self diagnostic test for my CIL. My speedometer sometimes doesn't work or falls when I am going at slow speeds. Before I order a new sensor, I was wondering if someone could tell me how and how difficult it is to replace. Thanks for the help.

I too have a speed sensor code 500 on my 96 Nissan Maxima SE. My speedometer works fine and is not intermittent however. I am going to order the part today and see how hard it is to replace it. I have a Maxima shop manual and it doesn't show how to replace it. The Haynes manual shows a picture of the sensor on the transaxle. I will keep in touch. Do you know a cheap place to get parts?
