UDP question...not what you think...

No it isn't another is it worth it question. I am wondering would the UDP help get rid of some of the lag that occurs in an automatic from time to time? Even with the VB upgrade, from time to time when I stomp on the gas, it seem like the car didn't want to downshift, it just lags in whatever gear it's in. It's very frustrating. IIRC, DaveB said something about less lag in the shifts or between shifts, but he has a 5spd. Thought 5spd has no lag? So any of you automatic guys that have the UDP, is there less/no more lag in the shifts? I basically have all the NA bolt on mods you can have for an automatic except the ECU and UDP. That is why I'm thinking of getting the UDP. I will get the ECU too, but not now, have to wait for this person that will sell me his JWT ECU when he get his SC. Plus, the UDP isn't that expensive. I probably get someone to install for me professional since I heard it's not easy on an automatic. Thanks.

Like you said, I noticed much less lag on shifts with my 5 speed. It sounds weird, I know, but otherss have verified this. BSwithTF (Travis) has a auto GXE with a UDP, ECU, Y-pipe, intake, and catback and I believe he told me his car felt more responsive on the shifts. BTW, he doesn't have VB. He has one of the quicker autos (15.0@92) in this org, using 17s, only getting 2.3X 60 foots, and he's running on some pretty crappy midwest tracks. I believe he made 175fwhp and 185fwtq which is pretty heathly for a auto 4th gen. I'd say the UDP must be working pretty good.

i think the answer to your question is no..

i have all the bolt ons as well and the udp (for us AutoMagIc guys) makes us rev faster..

i get to 6200 rpms a lot faster now.. but that seems to be all.. small gains throughout..

The only difficult part of the install is getting the bolt loose from the crank pulley. I used the instructions I got from the org and used the starter and a breaker bar to get it loose and it was pretty easy. The rest is the same as for the blue-collar transmission install except tightening up the same bolt. Again I just followed the same instructions and all went well.

Thanks guys. I see if I can find me an used one, I don't feel like buying a new one. $200 for a new one, so hopefully I can pick one up for much less.

A side note, when I ran the 15.6 the last time I went to the track, I had a 2.2x 60ft. The trap speed was 87mph IIRC. Kind of weird numbers. I'm going to race again this Saturday. Hopefully I can do better with a new fuel filter, ATF flushed, and CAI back on(had the HAI last time). I see if I can swap out the PCV valve in time, if not, next time. Not sure if I need to do that.
