That's a b!tch to repair... That price seems a little high but don't they all... I sure wouldn't want to do the job.

But I've never heard of a Max leaking there.

"Pushed to hard"? ..... And made a leak in the timing cover? Ummmmm.... I don't think so.

Re: Re: Timing Cover Oil Leak

The dealer told me the same thing I need to get my repaired prior to me leaving New Orleans and they said it was a $1200 job. So out has to come the supercharger in about 3 weeks and I have to take it to them and get that repaired. Also they told me if there was something I wanted to replace any performance part to give it to them and theyll put it on since half of the engine has to come off. All I am paying is $50 for this job and the other $1150 the warranty will cover.

The gasket has gone bad. The reason it costs so much to fix with 35 cents woth of liquid gasket is that it takes HOURS to get to it.

Try buying high-temp liquid gasket at a car parts store and smooshing it into the seam where your leak is. I have this problem, and have slowed it to a tiny dribble by doing that. One coat of liquid gasket over the seam and the surrounding cover (to prevent creepage), then some J-B Weld over the entire thing, all the way out past the liquid gasket. Then liquid gasket over all of that. It's better than $1200, I'll tell you that.

Me neither. On my 95, I do notice that right above the oil dip stick, there is some oil seepage. Maybe I'll clean up that area and try the sealant trick. I probably add a quart every 5k, so I'm not that worried.
