1995 knocking

I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima SE that has started having some heavy knocking at idle speed. The sound appears to come from the timing chain housing and it goes away as the engine is revved.

Does anyone have a clue or need me to try something in order to provide better details in reference to my problem.

The car currently uses 92+ Octane fuel and has 125k miles.

My '95 has had this sound since 30,000 miles. The sound is actually the timing chain slapping along the cover where it is housed. This was a common problem with most of the '95's. Actually there was a service bulletin on this. After Nissan replaced my tensioners and chains, the noise still persisted. There was nothing I could do. Nissan claimed they did everything they could. After I racked up more miles on the car (right now with 114,000+) the noise seemed to diminished. I hope this helps. I wouldn't worry about the noise, though. Just as long as you keep up on your oil changes, your timing chain should last for the life of your car.
