Door Panel...Grey to Black somehow??

Ok so now that I've had my black leather seats installed in my 98 for a month or two, I am looking into a way to change the grey cloth inserts on the door panels to black. I am not too concerned with them being leather, but the grey has got to go. It doesn't look bad, but I would prefer black much more.
Is there a way to remove them and either dye them or paint them black? Or maybe cover them up with something black without having to remove them?
Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Tony

hmm, what i would do is get some viynl, not the sticker, the leather like stuff. If ur handy, just cover them urslef, shouldnt be too hard. Go to a fabric store, youll see it. Its not that expenisve either.

Btw are thos removeable or is it part of the door panel?

No thats the lower part not the upper part and i tried this and it came out looking like crap and i used to work at an intereior shop and i always did door panels. The max is a pain in the a$$ to do the door panels so my suggestion would be to go find some factory black leather door panels like im trying to do.

Go to pepboys and get their Dupli-color "Vinyl and Fabric" spray. I have used it to change a tan cloth armrest to brown before with good results. They come in various colors.

I'm not sure if they are or not. I would think they are since the insert is leather on cars that came with leather. I suppose I will try to locate some leather inserts (should be hard to find all 4) and I will also take a look at the Dupli-Color "Vinyl and Fabric Spray" from Pep Boys. The last thing I want to do though is ruin the inserts I have.
Thanks for the info and the link to the thread.

If you have leather seats you might as well put leather or vynel in the doors. Theres a place in Hicksville called Automat that can either change the color or put leather inserts in. Shouldn't be that far from you. I'm in Glen Cove and it's about 15 min from me. Here is there phone # 938-7373
BTW cars with dactory leather, the door panel inserts come out
Cars without factory leather they do not.

Thanks!! Before I call, could you give me an idea of what they would charge to change the inserts to leather or vinyl? Thanks.

Well, you'd probably save yourself some money if you remove the door panels yourself and just bring them in(this way you can also still drive your car while there doing the work). To give you an idea, I have factory leather so the inserts are removable. I brought them the inserts cause I wanted to change the color of the leather in them. They had them about 8 days and they charged me $125 I think. It may have been $150 but no more than that. I can't imagine them charging you any different. Oh but I did supply them with a peice of material(it came with my leather kit) But still, they need very little material to do it. You should just take a ride over there when you have time and show them the car. They'll give you a price and appointment right there Good luck.
BTW, my friend goes to Hofstra. He drives a beat up black 3rd gen 5spd. His name is Mike, maybe you know him.

Yes, but personally I wouldn't spray the seats. It is subject to wear from usage. Something like the door cloth or an armrest too low to use (on my old Honda) would be better candidates because it doesn't get touched frequently.

Well, I have black interior as well. However, I have a GLE so I think mine is a little different. You talk about cloth inserts on the doors, I don't have that. I have some fake pleated leather-looking material above the arm rest and carpet below the armrest. But maybe this will help. My carpet started fading. It went from black to a dark grey. It bothered me so what I did was I went out and bought black dye made by RIT from Wal-Mart. I removed the carpet, soaked them, reinstalled them and everything is fine. Good luck.
