That is really tough... I have the unfortunate feeling that the drivers of some of those cars are not exactly O.K. or even still alive...

It all depends on the angle of impact... If they got a raised up truck or SUV and drive the corner of their bumper through your drivers window... well you might as well kiss the earth good-bye... The only possibly effective prevention for that worst case would be to run very hefty roll caging along the A, B, and C pillars and alongside the doors....

Some safety advocates are trying to get manufacturers of container trailers used with SEMI Trucks to incorporate "anti-submarining" safety bars along the lower perimeter...
Because otherwise, if you end up driving under one of those cabs, you stand a 90% chance of getting decapitated... you won't be able to duck out of the way because the seat belt tensioner will stop you...

FORD chose to do something similar with their EXCURSION SUV because of similar concerns...

That is a cool site. Look at the top one, it's still in DRIVE!

And is there any need to duplicate the pics in one thread? Lets be easy on the server!

Kind of sad to see a seatbelt cut off and wrapped in a knot around the steering wheel. I had to go outside and look at my car after seeing these pics just to settle my nerves again. Kind of creepy looking through the "car cemetery" if you ask me. I went and looked at some examples of other cars I've owned in the past (280zx, fiat spiders, etc). Weird.

Excursions are the scourge of the road....

- Yes, Ford did use some anti-decapitating device on their new "I'm bigger than you" Sucky Urban Vehicle. They also had to make a tow hitch standard to do the same job in the back.
- I find it interesting though that the Chevy Suburban can tow more, is more comfortable inside, and uses less gas. So that would mean that the drivers/buyers of Excursions buy their trucks for what? The extra, and completely useless, 2.6 cubic feet of space that they'll never use for hauling their diet water?
- If you ask me, the happy soccer moms and their genital-less husbands should just go buy a bus. A nice, big, yellow, happy schoolbus. After all, they did buy the
Ex-scourge-sion to haul their brats around in, right? A schoolbus is much better suited to that chore. PLUS - it will definitely tow more than that blasted Subdivision. At least we, as drivers of real vehicles, will be able to see the bright yellow paint and flashing red lights just before we lose our heads - literally.
- From now on, join me in doing one of two things to increase hostility to the soulless yuppies who congest our roads:
1. When passing an Excursion (in the right lane, of course, since they're blocking the left) motion for them to honk their horn just like you do when passing a semi.
2. Roll down your window, smile, and shout "Buy a Bus!" as loud as you can.
- Together, we can help to rid the world of Ford's latest blunder. Thanks!

It looks like the majority of these wrecks were pre '97s.
Check out the '95-'96 series

Those cars remind me of my 1990 Mazda 626 that was totalled. I guess the only good thing that came out of the accident was that everyone was okay and that we decided to buy a Maxima.

I'm pretty sure a few were killed

two of those pictures were definitely of the aftermath of death. I am surprised there isn't blood soiled into the seats of the maxs. It sort of makes me feel weird to see a similar colored maroon maxima in that sort of condition. damn.
