Finnaly found the right Maxima...

Well it took more than 2 months of searching, and I will say I was getting so frustrated I was almost ready to give up on the 5 speed... But finally I found it: '98 SE, sterling mist, black leather interior with all options (I think) except ABS and deluxe seating package (heated seats), 30,200 miles, and of course the all important 5 speed all in near perfect condition for $13,800. I think I got a pretty good deal for my area since a local dealer just wanted to sell me a '99 SE black on black 5 speed with 28,000 miles for $17999! I now know why you guys seem so obsessed with your Maximas, after driving this for less that a week I am infatuated with it! I guess you have to own one to understand... Here are links to a couple of pictures. Hey any one know if the factory 5 spoke wheels were chromed by Nissan as an option? Or was this done after delivery? I'm not usually a big fan of chrome but I think these look great.

Mods? It already has tinted window, Bose replacement consisting of Polk separates, Sony head unit and changer, MTX sub and Kenwood amp, and a 2 1/4 in exaust with a Flowmaster muffler. Nice throaty sound, not too loud and almost disappears at highway speeds!

few comments-
nice ride, looks clean 5spd on leather is cool and my fav rims are the stock 5 spoke se rims BUT i think chrome is way too bling bling...i think the titanium tint looks a lot better. i suggest buying clear corners too but overall good deal

Nice car! Chrome was not a factory thing, at lieast I don't think so. I would suggest that you look into getting H&R spring and lower the car a little. good color choice too.

Nissan did have chrome factory 16" rims, just not as common.. Just like there are chrome 17s on 5th gen Maximas.

That is an awesome car. Low miles, fair price and the absolutely best color combo EVER. I love sterling Mist...

Do I need to also change the struts at the same time or will the stock ones suffice?

If you've got the cash to do it, go for it! Better to do it at the same time. Besides, the previous owner of my Maxima installed springs only, and I ended up replacing the struts right after I bought it...

Great car buddy, the guy you bought from had good taste too, the chrome is not factory, it's restricted to aftermarket ot those crappy american made.
good luck and take care

Yeah I agree that you should do both at the same time if you have the cash. If you don't have the cash save up for it. Becuase you'll wind up doubling the installation cost if you do it twice.

I've read both sides to this approach in various threads now, but it seem that most do recomend replacing both springs and shocks at the same time. I thought perhaps I could get away with putting on only springs since The struts only have 30,000 miles on them. BTW, The profile of your max is absolutely perfect with those Eibachs & Tokicos that were mentioned in you signature! How is the ride compared to your original stock setup? I'm sure it handles much better, but is it noticably stiffer and harsher? Is it so stiff it is annoying at times? I wan't to improve the handling (and look by doing away with th 4X4 effect) with springs and perhaps shocks, but I do like the nice ride That I have now. P.S. aren't Tokicos what comes as standard on the Maxima?
