how much tranny fluid

For those that flushed their tranny with Redline or something else, how many quarts did you end up putting in? Because I just got my car back from the repair shop, and I had asked them to put the Redline fluid into my car, and they only used about 3 or 3.5 bottles? Does this seem right, or do I need to add fluid. Thanks in advance...

When I did the tranny fluid in my car, it took 5 quarts. I would take the fill plug out again and check to see if the fluid comes right up to the hole, if it does I think the wrong plug may have been used to drain the tranny. Check this thread out, it may shed some light on what has happened-> http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=112822

I would not use redline if I were you, it works great in the beginning but looses "greatness" right away, it was made for people who race and don't mind changing the fluid very often, e-mail "iwannabmw", he's an amsoil dealer and he'll set you up w/ the fluid, his name is Mark, he got me my tranny fluid when I was replacing my clutch

P.S. he also beat me in AutoX in the afternoon run...arrrrrrr

We're going to be chasing each other all season. I think we should be in our own class.

Re: how much tranny fluid

The 4th gen 5 speed takes 4.5 quarts.

The nice thing about the fill hole, is that if you fill up when the car is level, anything over 4.5 quarts will just spill out. Makes it easier to get the fill just right.
