Question about SparkPlugs

My recently acquired 96 MAX has around 47k miles on it (purchased it at 44k). I know that Nissan recommends a Plug chage at 60k and my question to you guys is, how bad were the plugs when ou swapped them out at 60k or even a lower milege? Do you thinkk I'll get any benefit from changing them early or should I just hold on till closer to 60k? I know the easiest way would be to remove the pulgs and inspect them, but I don't have alot of free time on my hands and coupled with being a "lazy bum" makes a bad combo Thanks in advance!

A new plug will always perform better than a used one. Buy a set of NGK or Denso and throw them in.

You will benefit. Stick with the stock NGKs. All the others have dis-advantages that come with their advantages, if any. BOSCH +4, some VQ motors destroy them, Denso, you have to change them earlier than the NGKs.

Which NGK?

Which NGK "model"? The NGK parts finder shows the 'laser platinum' as the oem replacement. Is this correct?

Bosch Platium +4 are good plugs they will not harm your engine and your engine won't destroy them!

They may be good plugs for other cars, but for maxima's NGK and Denso is the only way to go.

I'd wait until you reach 60K. I took mines out at 55K and they looked fine. To change the spark plug it should take you 30 minutes at most. The only hard ones to get at is #4 and #6. A word of warning, when you remove the ignition coils be gentle with them, they cost about $80 each, don't yank them out pull gently but firm. Also, number your coils as you reove them and put back in same cylinder, don't know if that makes a difference. Good luck.

Good advice. And I'd like to add, do 1 cylinder at a time. Remove coil, replace plug, put coil back. Done. Next cylinder. Less chance of losing track that way.
