destroyed a 2.5 5-speed altima

Aight i was out over the weekend cruisn and doin a little racin as well and this brand new altima comes up beside me and starts revn a little, well we are goin at for a little while and since i have an autotragic hes pretty much keepn even with me from a roll or if not beatn me. Anyway we finally get to a light together and its on, Now we didn't get up that fast b/c the street that everyone races on has a **** load of cops so we only went up to 60, but anyway off the line i already took a car length or more on him, and by the time I hit 40 i was 2+ cars and by 60 it was like 3 cars or more. The altima's are nice cars but if i where gonna get one it would only be the 3.5, cause the 2.5 5-speed got beat by an autotragic.

Not trying to be critical, but did you ever have any doubt?

The 2.5 S is a 175HP four cyl.
The 4th gen maxima is 190hp 6cyl, and with your list of mods, you should be over 175HP at the wheels.

Unless you were carrying alot of weight, there's no doubt the max would win. Now, go tangle with the 3.5 SE

its an experiment showing that a baby monkey would rather go to a fake looking mother that gives love (hence the furry carpet look) over a fake mother(monkey made of wire w/ bottle attached to it) that just gives food.

My best friend has a 3.5SE Altima... I'll tell you that they are fast, but not as fast as I expected.
I am sure that a 5spd max can take it off the line. They have a good top speed, but off the line it wasn't much.

Maybe it's the driver?

Remember this: the 3.5 SE has a 6-cylinder and is only slightly faster than us. An 2.5 is a 4-cylinder in the same body... what'd you think was going to happen?

Besides, Altima 3.5's aren't worth it for the tiny gain in speed over a Maxima. Trust me, all the complaints about the interior aren't wrong.

My friend has one too and it pulls like mad. A 6 speed can beat it but I doubt a 4th gen 5 speed could.

Stock vs. Stock with equal drivers a 3.5SE should be able to slowly edge out a 4th gen 5-speed. Of course, give the 4th gen a few mods and you don't have to worry anymore.

I think a 3.5SE 5-spd will more than edge out the 4th Gen 5-spd Maxima. The absolute best stock 4th gen may run a 14.7, most run slower. The altima is capable of low 14's. The altima win by a large margin

Capable of low 14's in magazines, maybe. Most drivers aren't going to touch that.

Not me.

A lot of mag times are ridiculous. They're generally taken with professional drivers in perfect conditions and then inflated. It's foolish to base your belief on how fast a car is off a magazine's 0-60 or 1/4 mile time. Until you can take it to a track... the car's power to weight info and your butt dyno on a test drive are much more reliable.

At least our cars never came with fake convertible tops (see sig)

My 95 5-speed (with intake and y) hung side by side with a 3.5 SE from 80-135 one night. I am assuming it was an automatic though, but I actually pulled a very small amount from 110-120 but basically it was dead even the whole way. Although the Altima's engine wasn't broken in, as it still had dealer places, and supposedly the engine gets better with age.
