My roommate hit my baby!

Yes I do mean my Maxima.

I walked outside this morning and noticed that someone had dented my rear passenger door, and the wheel flair. I looked a little bit closer and saw that there was still some black rubber on the dent.
Well, only one of my roommates has a car with a black rubber bumper, a 94 POS Saturn, (Yah, I know "POS Saturn" is redundant.) I looked on the corner of his bumper and sure enough, theres a rub mark. The heights line up..exactly.

I confronted him about it and he swears that he didn't do it, and there is no way he could have done it without noticing. This is coming from the guy who drove 2 days on a flat tire before we pointed it out to him. He is a dumb@$$, probably the most un-observant person ever, and he can't even park his Saturn well. (He routinely hits our deck supports with his car while parking and doesn't know the meaning of straight)

What do I do now?

well, it is possible that he could've done it without knowing...because if you say he didn't notice a flat tire, i think he could get away with not noticing rubbing on something...but i don't really know what you can do, other than just try to get the truth out of him, and maybe teach him how to park

While he is sleeping get a pillow and strangle him with it. Sorry, dude I don't know what to do!

Call the police and file a report. It was obviously a hit-and-run. If he did it, his insurance will have to pay. Let the police investigate.

But I do know what you're going through, because as I was walking back to my car after school today, I noticed scuff marks on my front bumper, above my driver side bumper lenses. Looks like some of the paint has been peeled away in scratch marks, nothing deep, still sorta blends with the black, so I'm thinking it was a rubber bumper that did mine as well, or something else got rubbed against it, I don't know. Just the result of parking at the mall this weekend I guess.

I would beat him with a rubber hose until...

...oh, seriously speaking...umm, file the report with the insurance and have him pay your deductible if he doesn't want to claim it on his own.

Ooooh, I like that idea

No seriously, I think I am going to talk to him tonite/tomorrow morning and tell him that he can either give me his insurance information so I can contact them, or I am going call the cops and file hit-and-run report. He is so pig-headed I am sure he won't admit he might have done it.....ever. So it looks like I have a fun couple of days ahead. Especially with my last final of the school year, and moving into a new house.

Anymore good ideas just put'em up here, I'll let you guys know what happens.

That would be being nice on your part. I would just go file a police report saying you saw this car with these plates hit your car blah blah. You tried to confront the driver but he drove off. Then file a report with your insurance company. Do you have full collision insurance or just liability? If you have liability, I'm not sure if its a good idea to report this since your insurance might go up. I would demand he pay me for the damages and if he refuses I would probably write " *******" with lipstick on the front wind shield and slice all four tires. Lipstick is a pain in the *** to wash off!

Update: Damage Estimate

Took it to a body shop today to get an insurance estimate....
$860.92..ouch.

They are repairing and repainting both body panels (rear-quarter and rear pass door) and replacing the molding strip on the door.

11.1 hours of labor to fix the doors @ $36.00/hr
6.4 hours of labor to repaint it @ $36.00/hr
6.4 hours for "paint supplies" @ $24.00/hr
plus $18.00 Misc and a $56.12 piece of rubber

This is the body shop my dealer recommended. I took it as another good sign that the first car I saw was a new, Black 911 being lowered off a flatbed into the lot. (He hit a pole type object going pretty fast head on and his car definitely tried to rap itself around it)

My roommate got his Jetta repaired here and they do good work so it probably isn't a rip off, what do you guys think?

That estimate is a bit high, I would get a new one unless his insurance is covering it then who cares.

I feel for ya man. My roomate is a dumbass too. Have is car towed. Or better yet, go to the DMV website and order him personalized licence plates that say "dumbass" or "IGIVHEAD". I'tll cost ya 30 bucks and you can do it online without his consent. You just need his current plate #. Then when they mail them to your apt. stick em on his car.

Filed a police report

Well, I filed a hit-and-run report today
The nice officer agrees w/ my reasoning on believing that it was the saturn.(As any sane person would) He left me with a message for the dumb@$$ roomie.
He can call from 7-3 and report the accident and the hit-and-run disapears, or he doesn't and they get a warrant for his arrest for a hit-and-run. If he has done nothing by 3PM, I told them where he would be so they can go get him immediately. Guess where he will be, taking a final in an 150 person auditorium...I really want to go to the auditorium and watch it happen.
This didn't have to happen but he is still a dumb@$$ so now I hope he gets arrested and fails his final..
Yah, I'm bitter, but hey, he hit MY MAXIMA..with a saturn
