JWT POP v. Cattman Combo Intake (not the same old ?'s)

I know this subject has been covered over and over again and I have probably read 80% of these threads. Nevertheless, I still have a couple of questions. I see that nearly all of the fastest Maximas in the 1/4 mile have just the JWT POP so I figure you can't go wrong w/this intake as far as track times go. But, I was wondering if there would be any downsides to this Cattman Combo Intake (a hybrid intake). Would this intake perform just as well as POP as far as in the upper rpms while possibly outperforming it in the low end and maybe sounding better/deeper at the same time? I guess for a 5-speed (like I have) it probably wouldn't help any at the track but what about normal (for me anyway) acceleration when I am shifting around 2500 or so rpms? My guess is that the upper tube is not worth the extra money with the 5-speed but I would like some opinions on this. Thanks for the help.

Quite a few people have gone from pops to hybrids, myself included. The intake is louder and if anything it may perform better.

ya i've done the same, and ran faster 1/4 mile times....sound is louder as well, and seems as if it kicks in at lower rpm's (auto for me)

supposedly the upper piece smoothes out the air flow by replacing the resonator and gives u your low end back ( which is lacking with a regular short stub) without sacrificing the benifits of the pop charger's top end

I'm heading to the track this Sunday. Depending on how many runs I get in, idealy, I'll leave the Stillen/K&N Intake in first 2 runs. Plug in the hybrid intake (a la PR/Cattman) for the next 2 runs. See if there are any differences in track time (doubtful)

Well I have tested it at the track, and CAI seem to be better for me(auto). Hybrid intake seem to be better for highway driving and has more topend power. CAI is better for street and more lowend power. That was the case for me.

ahhh, I'm so dumb. Around here the test and tune nights at the track are on Friday. I thought you had tested the two different intakes, but now I see that you're going to the track on Sunday. My mistake.

cool

I am interested in seeing your results. I am also guessing there will be no differences in track time for a five speed (is that what you have?). I think an auto would be slightly better off with the hybrid. Let us know your times. I'd appreciate it.

I did go to the track in early June. I had the Stillen Intake on. Miserable numbers (borderline 16s) Even though evening temp was 76-80 degrees, humidity was over 60%. I'm not running again until temp is in the 60s at least.

Now I'm having fitment issues with the intermediate tube for the hybrid/CAI setup

I forgot to mention that there would be minimal difference in hp between any of these setups (Pop charger/hybrid/CAI)

No one car has yet to disprove that.
