springs vs. coilovers

This is my personal situation. I have a 97, and I just bought some 18's. I haven't put them on yet cuz I think it looks like shipoop if you have nice a$$ twinkies on there and you don't have something to take care of that wheel gap. I want to know what the best thing for me would be. I don't plan on altering the stance after doing this, so what would be the best thing for me. I want a good, soft as possible, ride. Please let me know what yall think and what ALL I would need to do this (i.e. shocks, struts, cutting the bumpstops, etc.) I just want to get as much info on this stuff as possible since I live in an area where very few people know answers to this stuff. I know that my friend and I could do the work, just want everyone's $.02.

Thanks in advance

You will never get a soft ride with coilovers with those 18s. If you are never going to change the height after the lowering then I suggest getting regular lowering springs. Softest springs would probably be the H&R which is a 1.5" drop.

you will need to get new shocks with your springs unless you want to redo the install when your stock ones blow. I suggest getting the KYB AGX adjustables. I cut my bumpstops in half.
