OK, I just recently cleaned out my throttle body and I noticed that my RPMs seem to be jumpy. By jumpy, I mean that once I come to a stop they rise to about 1,500 and then drop down to normal.I have a five speed so it is once I engage the clutch that this RPM rise occurs. I also noticed that when I aplly no throttle, the car will pull second gear. I also replaced the PCV valve which may have been clogged ( I let a mechanic do it so I didn't see the old one). Would a new PCV be a possible cause for the RPMs to be like that? Does anybody else have this experience? Please let me know if this is something I should try and correct. Thanks.

 

Check for a vacuume leak. Make sure the air intake is totally sealed before the MAF sensor. If air is getting in around the MAF, it could cause eratic(sp?) idle. How was your car running before you did this cleaning?

 

The car was running fine. WHat is the best way to check for a leak?

 

Go back and look at everything you removed/played with when you did the throttle body clean up.

Take the intake off again, look closely and see if you see anything that doesn't look right. A hose hanging off someplace, maybe even shoot a little more cleaner in there and give a wipe just to make sure.
Put it all back together again and see what happens.

 

Yeah, I might just try doing that and cleaning my Cone filter too. I guess it couldn't hurt. Thanks for the help.
