It's not all that hard. You can always use the Intake that is not on the car at the time as a point of reference.

www.cyberhub.net/intake should give you more information.

I'm still selling these till next Wed, then no more.

Search will not work for any string with less than 3 characters, like VI, I know, I've tried. You can search on "variable intake" but since much of what is writen on this subject refers to it as VI, you will miss a lot of it.

Not true.

All of my posts use the word "Variable", and I have posted much of my research on the subject, including Dynos and timeslips.

I just tried a search using "variable timeslip" and another using "variable 1/4 time" and found nothing (on the subject of interest). I followed the threads about the VI for and saw the dyno results but stopped following after awhile. Did you get some comparison times at the track with and without the VI?

Never mind. I did find (not with search, though I like search, I just happened to stumble across) the post that had the 1/4 mile times with and without the VI in the current thread under group deals.

Heh...no problem.

.4 seconds for the 1/4 mile.....not too shabby for any bolt on.

So you gonna buy one from me?

Thats a nice gain for a inexpensive bolt on... But I've got a pretty short mod list as of yet, maybe down the road a bit.

Suffice to say, if you like taking your engine all the way to redline to maximize performance, then you gotta have the VI. No question. The main power difference between the 227 hp 2000 Maxima and the 190 hp 1995-1999 Maxima is the VI.

hey iansw....was 16.6 stock? to me 16.6 is pretty slow
and 16.2 is a nice gain from the VI but that still seems like a slow
time
that's weird
dat means my max is running close to 17s

OK well 560 shipped preceeds my reply.......way high up above my reply. I shouldn't have to go searching for it. When I ask for something I want an answer, not a treasure hunt. But thank you anyway for the price smart a$$!

My car was slow because I had 2 subs in the trunk and 2 amps, and my 18" TSW's on.

I wasn't going for best time ever, I was going just to see the difference between VI ON and VI OFF.

Besides, I"ll be in the mid-low 13's in a couple of weeks when I get my SC in.

How often I do this GD really depends on 3 things:

My Job: I have to get my MCSE by January or I'm out of a job.
They pay me $62k a year, and I have no Certs...gotta get on it.

My Girlfriend: What woman isn't high maintenance?

How well this goes: It seems interest is picking up again, even though I can't take PayPal. Depending on how many checks I get by 1 week from today, and how much interest still exists, I may do another GD right after these get in (60-70 days)

But most likely it will be 4-6 months from now.

If I didn't mention it already, I am taking 1/2 up front, and 1/2 in 2 months when my supplier is ready to ship. ($280 now, $280 later)
If you give me $280 and then are broke in 2 months, I'll just sell your "spot" and give you your money back when I get the money from the new person.

Since people don't seem to want to look through this thread, all the information you need (for the 3rd time) is at www.cyberhub.net/intake

(I just updated the page with all the latest info)

VI rpm switch

Is all the fin tuning for adapting the ME VI done?
Cuz last I heard Ian you were talking about the rpm switch!
Is there a ECU optimised for the VI, does the ECU have a rpm signal output? Has NE1 doen any ECU adaptation( JWT, G-Force) for VI + Y-pipe + intake?

It seems to me that 5000 RPM's is the best place. I tested at 3600, 4000, 4500,4800, 5000, and 5500 RPMs.

If you set the RPMs any lower than 5000, it seems that pressure has not built up in the manifold, and hp and tq drop sharply and never really recover. If you go above 5000, it works, but 5000 works better, obviously, because it gives you more time to gain speed.

As far as an aftermarket ECU Upgrade, I think people were talking about raising the redline, which I know little about. But it hsould work.

I can post a Dyno of what 4500 RPMs looks like, but trust me, it's not good. (I have to go grocery shopping with my woman now, and don't have time, maybe later).

Interestingly, the VI's on the 2000+ 5th Gens also opens exactly at 5000 RPMs...seems the Nissan Engineers knew what they were doing.

You can check this post

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=118627

This is my group deal that I have going on. Just to give you all the info. It takes 4-7 weeks to get the piece once you send the money. I will be running this until everyone has one (basically). Once I get the money I don't wait for a certain of number of orders to come in I just send it in as soon as I get the money so no waiting for a certain number of people to get in on the group deal. If you wanted to wait for sea frieght it would drop to $485 Paypal but take an additional 4-6 weeks to get here. But, if you have any questions feel free to drop me a line.

Thanks,
John

By the way I would order my RPM switch around the same time you order the VI because it has been 2 1/2 weeks since I've ordered it and still haven't gotten it. That is why there has been no dyno.

What ever happened to our agreement not to be competitive, Cranman?

The benefit of mine is you only have to have 1/2 of the money now, and the other 1/2 later.

And 9 weeks is the ETA on mine, not much longer than 7 weeks.

True I apologize I was just giving everyone there options because noone suggested mine...and because I've been away from the org getting orders done, so I haven't been able to keep up with everything going on.
