There is a whurring noise, sorta like a super charger coming from the alternator area. Cant really pinpoint the noise, but it sounds loud at times and then goes away. Any ideas as to what it is?

Your alternator is going south. Get it replaced NOW!! I had the same noise, took it the dealer, they said it was "normal" and refused to do a load test on it. So I drove it home, and guess what, the very next day my alternator failed on me. I took it back to the dealer, and they BLAMED ME for causing the problem because I did not "have them check it out" the day before. Um, I ASKED THEM TO DO A LOAD TEST ON IT the day before and they refused!

So if your car is not under warranty anymore (over 3 years, 36k miles) then don't take it to nissan to replace the alternator. It's so much hassle...the dealers are so rude and overcharge for everything.

It took me two AAA tows and three dealerships to find one that would replace my alternator under warranty.
