I thought they had something like 280HP? Also, I have a Thule Roof Rack, and 10" kicker subs, which I think weigh down my car a bit. I'd also like to keep everything legal. So I know a few of you would suggest a Y-pipe, but i'd like to stay away from it. Also, I'm auto and he is manual.

I thought they were something like 220-240hp. The 90+ 300ZX-TTs have 300hp.
Also, the car is 15 years old so its probably not making the power it's rated at.

Well it's gonna be a close race. I don't think u should do all the mods just for that race... since u wanna keep ure car stock. Your extra weight shouldnt work against u that much considering his car is heavier... as for the modding of ure car, im sure other ppl on the board can do a much better job explaining that. It just depends on what mods he's done and how experienced he is driving manual... well here's the factory spec for the 87 300zx turb:

1987 300ZX Turbo specs:
-3.0 L V6 turbo-charged engine
-200 HP and 227 lbs/ft of torque@ 6.5 PSi of boost with stock Nissan T3 turbo
-weight: 3290
- (1/4 mile) = 14.44@94mph

good luck!!

Well, I'm thinking about removing the spare tire. However, is there some kind of product I could use to re-inflate and patch a tire if I was to remove my spare. See the thing is I want to save weight, but I also don't want to be stuck out in the middle of no where one night. Anyone know of a good product?

honestly, the spare really isnt going to do much... go on a diet.. haha. everything else on the car slows you down more. i got a Thule, that hurts you right there alone.

I don't think y-pipe is illegal, and is your best/cheap option as everyone here knows - get a wal-mart air compressor $10-15 and plugs into lighter and weighs (about 2#) and a cell phone (8oz) to call you buddy to pick you up when you tire blows out or separates from the rim

Hopes and dreams. The 1987 was the last year they used the true T3 turbo, 88-89 300ZX used the smaller T 2.5, I think these were Garretts...

...at any rate, if he didn't keep his car up, you'll probably have a chance, but the VG30ET engine is one bad ****.

One of these days my 88 Maxima will get a VG33 with turbo, if I can ever scrounge up enough money after taking my 97 to turbo.

Yeah, I've had my 89 Celica since last May... it's the GT hatchback model and auto... not much power there... but it handles hella nice! I was considering getting a 89 Celica All-Trac Turbo but didn't have much success finding a local one up for sale. Next week, I'm going to be picking up a 96 Maxima SE from my cousin... I can't wait

Aw man my ex-gf had an '89 GTS 4WD turbo 5-speed... that thing was a frickin' *BLAST* to drive! GOD DAMMIT!!! She wrecked it after owning it for like 8 months. That was back in like '95 or '96... I still keep my eye out for one in my area... I'd buy it instantly if I could find one.
