Rear Brake clunk and squeal from A/C compressor
Rear Brake clunk and squeal from A/C compressor
When we had the alternator replaced we get a squeal at start up from the AC compressor (I think).
Also when we first bought our 97 used we had a rear brake clunk. The dealer replaced the struts and other suspension parts. Still at low speed you get this clank, like the pads are too small for the caliper or something. They lubed the back of the pads with anti-seize (like I would not notice it) but it eventually came back. Do the rear brakes come with shims and maybe they are missing or should I look somewhere else?

Brake clunk....hmmm....you say you had some suspension 'parts' replaced but you are hearing a noise from the rear brakes? Are you sure the noise is coming from the caliper/pad/rotor area? All I can say is to take the brake pads out and check to make sure they have been installed correctly. The anti-squeal (anti-sieze is for plugs, bolts, etc...) goo goes on the back of the shim. Are the shims in good shape? There are anti-rattle springs that go in there too, make sure they aren't busted or otherwise.
If the suspension is making noise, then maybe the bolts need to be tightened or maybe there is a bushing or something missing.
I hope this helps...I know it is all sort of non-specific, but I'm just throwing things out there for you.

You did a NO, NO. No grease on belt. Now you have to replace the belt for sure.
