I know I did a search and found nothing. What do they really look like? Are they the ones that come on the 5 & 7 series bmw? Like the new ones? What year e36 can I use up to? (Like the newest year) are they direct bolt on to a 4 gen max? no moding? can I still use my 9004? is there other BMW lights that would fit on a 4th gen?

The E36 3-series BMWs are from 1992.5-1998. The newest 3-series are the E46 models. The 5 and 7 headlamps are nothing like the 3-series. Also, these E36 lamps are not a direct bolt up to the 3rd Gen Maximas, and due to such a varying shape, would be nearly impossible to fit up on a 4th Gen.

E36 headlamps use the high/low combination of 9006/9005 in the U.S.. You might be lucky and find yourself a set that use the E-code pattern and the H4/H1 combination. But, no, your 9004s will not work.
