First times at Houston Raceway Track

First thing I have to say is street racing is much different than
track racing.

I have never seen my car hop so badly. Everyone on the org always mentioned problems with wheel hop but I never had problems on the street. The first run at the track my Max hopped so much it knocked it out of gear. I definitely have to work on my launches to bring my times down. I was going to start putting money into HP mods but now I may just work on mods that keep the wheels on the ground. Any ideas!!

Anyway, here are my best numbers:

Temperature 85: Humidity 90% : 1/4 tank gas : Stock Rim/Tire

RT: ... .959
60: ... 2.437
330: ... 6.686
1/8: ... 10.164
MPH: ... 70.68
1000: ... 13.152
1/4: ... 15.659
MPH: ... 90.2

Now the Sad Sad Sad part: My wife ran for her first time.
Here are her numbers(Were just a little competitive):

RT: ... 1.567
60: ... 2.348
330: ... 6.582
1/8: ... 10.033
MPH: ... 71.25
1000: ... 12.992
1/4: ... 15.481
MPH: ... 89.97

Very impressive! And now I have to listen to her everyday about
how she’s the better driver!! Wait until the next track run!!

Your wife is just a better driver, live with it. But seriously she must be out street racing every day she drives it, those are very impressive for a 1st time!

The reduce the wheelhop either buy some PR engine mounts or make your own from urethane (do a search to find it). THat is ok for the 1st time, after practicing and different shifting you should be able to run 14.8-15.3 range.

I have heard the PR's cause some vibration on idle and I was trying to keep the car smooth. I may try ericdwong's motor mount project.
Has anyone else had success in adding new motor mounts but without
the harsher idle or have tried eric's polyurethane project ?

By the way, my wife wanted let you all know that she's only driven the car a few times since have gotten it. Now she wants one!!

Thanks for the info,

Boo

Wheelhop is very dependant on how hard you launch the car. If you try launching really hard and you end up spinning a lot, most likely you'll. If you slip the clutch and ease into the gas at first, you won't hop. Getting new motor mounts is VERY extreme and will cause a ton of vibration. IMO, who wants vibration in a sedan? The Max is suppose to be for cruising, not ultimate 1/4 mile performance.

Even brian in his heavily modded Max got rid of his PR mounts almost immediately because they caused so much vibration.

I don't think they're too bad.

They were pretty harsh at first but after awhile they got 'broke-in' I guess and now I hardly notice them.

After reading about Warpspeed's Radial Arms I think
I may have found my first suspension mod!! I'll probably wait for
a few people to test them and get some opinions but they
sound like exactly what I'm looking for on the track!

Actually I lied, I did just order a FSTB from StealthMax
