wuts up with my alarm??

ok, recently my antenna mast broke (long story)......now when i lock and unlock my doors, my alarm doesnt chirp anymore, but when the alarm is triggered, it still goes off. i just realized it today when i closed my door with the key in the ignition, and then i opened the car a second before it was going to auto lock itself. I pretty sure that unplugging the battery and reconnecting it will solve the problem, but is there any explanation for this?

Do you have an aftermarket alarm or stock alarm?

i think there is a 5 minute delay or so until the light blinks. could be wrong, but i think mine has a delay.

If you have an aftermarket alarm, your alarm is probably in valet mode. Check your user manual, usually involves a few button presses on your remote.

thanks guys - i called up automate and they told me that it was in valet mode, i guess i must have kicked that button by accident or something - to take it off was easy....... put the key in the "ON" position, then turn it off and then from that point, you have 10 seconds to hit the switch
