Is a short-ram K&N conefilter the equivalent of a hybrid intake?

I've been searching for this answer but couldn't find a clear one. I went to Sonin Boom in New Orleans (yes, this place again) shortly before I traveled and requested for a CAI. The guys there told me that a CAI wouldn't be a good choice since water could easily get in and ruin the engine. I agreed because if floods often around where I live. He said he would get me a short-ram air intake installed for $125. The intake was installed and sounds nice. It uses a K&N filter but the body is rubber instaed of the chrome finish that some K&N filters have. Anyway, I didn't really notice any lag. I haven't tested it yet at speeds over a 100, but that may change when I head to Houston for July 4th. So am I in the clear? If not, I read that I can make a hybrid for around $15. I'm not skilled doing something like that but can learn quickly if given directions. Does anyone have pics of a hybrid intake with a cone filter? I tried looking at some member homepages but I only see the cars, not really the engine with the hybrid. Thanks in advance.
