Tinted tails

It would be amazing if there was one for the max. The ones that where it is totally black until the light it on. I seen them on other cars and it looked amazing. One for the headlights would be great too.

Are you talking about head/tailight covers from GTS? Cause they don't make em, that sucks. I think this is a lot better than buying the black spray tint, which is highly illegally almost everywhere.

Basically, all you do is spray paint your tail lights to black them out. Should be available online or at your local speed/accessory shop, don't count on major auto stores carrying them because they are, as mentioned, illegal for use and only for offroad cars.

Shouldn't be illegal if used sparingly ... Saab's have tinted tails ..

Not true. My tailights are painted dark red, almost black at night, but they shines red when you apply the brakes or when the lights are on. I had mine done at a body shop. They use red paint & clear coat. Only draw back is that I have no back up lights. They are red like th erest of the lights.

Maybe in your state. But in Jersey everything is illegal. Not allowed to have blackouts, colored lights, neons (Not that I want them), aftermarket mufflers.....etc.

If you lighty tint the tails with a product called Nightshade then you might be OK. Inspection is the tough part.

RX7's and Chevy Beretta's had factory tinted tails.

If used sparingly, a cop would never know the difference. Look at mine. Don't use Nightshades, it's crap. Use the Japanese paint from Autodynamic.com. It has clearcoat in it.

nightshades is not crap, its true that you would want to put on a clear coat, but thats with everything. Anyways... it didnt look right because I have a dark green car and it was just all dark in the back. Need some color. Might look cool on a white car. But if you do spray them, better hope you like it because it dosent come off. With my probe I pased inspection in Nj but that was 3 years ago. I had inspection with the max yesterday and I didnt pass because I was missing a lug nut
What I would do is , if you have a pic of your car on your computer, bust out corel or photoshop and tint them that way to make sure you like the look.
As to painting them, take you time as with any paint job and take nice thin coats. You will be able to see how dark you want them and after give them about 3 sprays of clear coat.

It's illegal in CA, and it is mostly true in every state.

Of course, it's all officier's discretion when they pull you over, but in CA, you can bet your a$$ that sooner or later you're gonna get pulled and fined. Happens all the time.

IMO, Nightshades looks way too flat, even with clear coat. he Japanese paint is light years ahead in terms of quality. As for removing it, you can take it off, it just takes a little elbow grease. Simply be a lot of nail polish remover (ie acetone). The acetone will remove the paint, but will not affect the plastic housing (cloud it up). Check out my latest tailight setup. In the pic you'll see that my reverse/signal lights are smoked, but I removed the paint from the brake lights. This gives the Max that Euro Saab/VW look. People absolutely love the look. I don't see why this would look bad on any color Maxima because all Saabs come this way now (all colors).
