ticking noise... WTF

a few days ago i lifted my hood and heard this ticking noise... it was coming from around my TB... but i can't exactly locate it. now today while i was changing my coolant, it was a bit louder, but it sounds like it is slightly backfiring in between ticks. they only happen @ idle... w/o a/c... and if i rev it a small amount... it goes away for about 30 seconds... then returns... and the sound is about 1 second apart... any ideas????

You can try cleaning them both. But neither one will cause problems. Try doing the regular diagnostics according to the Haynes Manual.

actually, it goes away with the ac on... if the RPM's are any higher than normal idle, the noise is not there... and like i said, if i rev it up even a small amount, it goes away for a bit... but i do know what compressor noise you are talking about... my makes a some noise... nothing too bad though
