just swapped from 5spd ---> 5spd w/ lsd

wow, it is nice.

after spending some time under my car today... at around 1am I finally got her running and took her out for a test drive. daang, big difference, love the lsd. launches better, and can take corners better while accel,

how does the lsd effect wheelhop? alot better?

actually....it makes it worse....if I shift really hard from first to second with my quaife....the wheels hop.....and launches are bad too...

So you guys are saying the main benefit in LSD, beside getting high

, is powering out in a corner?? I would want better launches too, but I guess FWD is FWD, LSD or not, huh?

Wheel hop, hmm - I only experience that say when my tires are really cold. I can say this, I can launch muuuuch better with LSD. Now it still no comparison to my friends rwd bmw M5, but what can you expect haha.. but it definately makes a very big difference, and last night on my test drive I experience no wheel hop off the line, or in the 1->2 shift. It's a nice feeling too to have both tires spin fast when you spin em... cant really describe it haha

as far as how i got it, hmm - I was looking for another 5spd, and called everyplace here in louisville. NO ONE had a 5spd tranny for my (neither maxima or i30).. EXCEPT 1 place.. and the guy was like "you want a locking diff, or standard?" ... I was like hmm , "locking but i highly doubt you have one.." the computer searched for a few minutes... "well, I show 1 maxima tranny that will fit for you, it is a '95 locking differential 5spd. 70k miles." , soo weird that there were NO others in louisville haha except this one. As for price, not bad at 600$ !!!! I spent some time and did the install myself, , , all is well so far, I'll be driving it more today, and maaaaybe if I have time i will go to the track tonight (some kid's talking crap.. need to put him in place

I have an LSD that I have yet to install.

Where did you purchase the driver's side axle and how much was it? Also, were there any other parts besides the axle that you need?

yes, the main advantages are in road racing and inclement weather conditions. I guess I can launch a little harder, I did beat my buddies modded GTP out of the hole THREE times.
