1st Successful Run with 100-shot N2O

I just finished upgrading my nitrous setup to a 100-shot. I used the regular .042 jet in the bypass T and I used the .047 in the nitrous nozzle. With the help of JIME and BRIGUYMAX, I finished tuning it. First impression, . I cannot believe how much power is there, it is insane. It chirped 1st AND 2nd gear on a non-VB mod Maxima automatic. I am going to the drag-strip tomorrow to get some time-slips. I will post up some videos when I get back. Later all.

Hey Erik good stuff. So did the fuel pressure change with the .047 or stay in the 86-89 psi range?
It is unreal unless you have felt it before, still raises my blood pressure when it hits, sort of like has a personality of its own, like demon possessed.

Yea!!! I remember the "hit" from the 100 shot, it puts a big grin on your face casue you can really feel it! The SC is nice, but the power comes on so smooth that you dont get that sensation.

The first time you hit the 100 shot, it's like and the 2nd, and the 3rd time, and the 4th...

Re: 1st Successful Run with 100-shot N2O

Here is a tip don't hit it until late 1st gear or 2nd gear if your on street tires. For some reason 100shots seem to cause a slight traction problem . If you have to get some drag radials at least. On a tuned 100 shot + tranny mods your car should run low 13's with good tires.

Hmm, you chirped 1st and 2nd gear... .I guess you don't have a window switch so be careful of your tranny...=)

It is running at about 86-87 psi on the bottle with the .042 jet in the bypass T. And for some reason, in between gears, it will slightly jump to 89 psi, but then goes back down. To me, it is perfect. .

Bad97MaxSE: I had a 70-80 shot before and I decided to go to 100 because I am going to the track tonight. I will get the vids up ASAP after the track. Thanks all.

Not trying to break your *****. But why are you installing NOS? You have chrome rims which can add 5-80 lbs of extra weight. Should lighten your Max first, before you juice it.

IMO.

Because he wants to. What bit of difference does it make if he has light rims or not? The NOS will still work. Is it okay if I add NOS, even though I still have steelies with hubcaps?

Erik glad it all worked out for you. I never asked before but are you running a trans cooler? If not you should get one. Also I put in a switch for the dropping resistor because I believe its easier on the transmission. I am not a VB mod believer (lightning from Heaven please don't rain down on me) and the dropping resistor mod will make it shift much faster and keep the transmision from heating as much. I switch mine on after I do a little burnout and turn it off at the end of the quarter.
Jim

PS If I get as much flak about this one as I did telling you to stay with a .042 bypass jet it will be a long thread.

Sup man dont get too exited, and get a ****ty run cuz of ur 60 ft.I know the feeling I went from a 85 shot dry to a 100 shot jet dry.I know it feels good.I chirpped fourth and third gear, but I have a 97 gxe 5spd with an ACTxtreme pressureplate.I ran a 13.56 at 105 mph with street drags. On a 85 shot ,but only ran a hundred shot jet once. Not on the track though.Good luck!!

For your information, he is NOT on chrome rims.

What led you to that?

are you sure about that trap speed....I only trap @ 103 with a 100-shot on my 5-speed with an ACT clutch....

and what are "street drags"??? Do you mean drag radials??

Trap speed answer

Well you got 103 mph ,maybe you should get stock rims and mount them with some slicks or drag radials, with that you can pick up 1 or 2 mph on your trap speed. Its a big difference man.I had drag radials on my 17 inch rims.Drags are like normal tires just that the compound of them are like slicks when you burn them out. Also my car was always fast to begin with .I'm one of the lucky max owners that have amazingly fast stock maximas.14.8 at 91 mph stock

LOL!!!

It's all good.

I was just trying to say why are you gonna juice the ride? If you want speed that badly, just lighten the car. It's a lot cheaper. That's all I was initally saying.

That's exactly what I was gonna say. The more traction that you have off of the line, the SLOWER your trap is.

Congrats on the 100 shot!

I remember when i had my 100 shot, it constantly spun all the way through 1st and into 2nd to almost 3rd. WHy are you running such a high FP psi? When i was running my 100 shot, i was pushing about 80 or psi on the FP gauge. BTW-I was running a .i think .67 or .68? fuel jet. Too long ago to remember. Best of luck with it!

Everyone said that if I am gonna run a 100 shot, 85 psi is the best pressure to run at. I just got back from the track last night and I ran a 13.9 @ 100.45 mph. I am kinda disappointed because I had ok launches, but my r/t and my trap speed still suck. Probably with more practice, my CAR can reach the mid/lower 13s with the current setup. But, when the 5-speed is dropped in, everything changes...

good luck....with my 100-shot and 5-speed...I couldn't even break into the 13s....I ran 14.0@103!!!! it just SPINS and SPINS and SPINS...I think the auto is geared better for the dragstrip...the 5-speed with a 100-shot just puts WAY too much power to the ground so fast on street tires...

You might need to switch to colder plugs, upgraded fuel pump, 3" piping would probably be beneficial and all the usual guages recommended... BTW if you're an auto, it would be a good idea to get a Level 10, or at least Don's VB mod because all that power is eventually going to rip your tranny apart

if that's the case, I would be willing to swap my auto tranny for your 5spd...j/k...I wish.

Well, it just depends when you apply the nitrous. If you at first gun it without the nitrous, then as SOON as you are moving apply the nitrous, you will get much much much less traction problems. The first time I ran (14.82) I floored it with the nitrous at the get-go, spun spun and spun the wheels. Then the second and third time I clicked on the nitrous as soon as I started moving. My 60' times are bad because of this, but the nitrous kinda makes up for this in the long run.....We will see in the near future. IF worst comes to worst, I will have a 5-speed kit for sale...
