lookin 4 a good looking chrome queit muffler..

i have a 95 gle with a full stillen exhaust and rt cat. i think im tired of having my car sound like a model airplane so im thinking of getting rid of my stillen ss muffler. does anyone know of a similar looking muffler, or even a good looking one( must be chrome)that i can replace it with that will keep the car kinda quiet. performance is not an issue here, looks and sound is. i wouldnt mind a deep toned humm, but i dont want the rice sound. any suggestions?

the apexi WS muffler is good, but i dont know if they sell it without the catback pipe.........stay away from the canister style mufflers - those almost always give a rice noise

Apexi WS. I was standing behind Brian V's car when he dyno'd it, and I fell in love with that muffler, he is S/C'd and I could see the exhaust coming out soo smooth. And it wasnt farty at all, very airy sounding, you could just hear it flow...oh the beauty!

I actually dont know, I would assume the 4th genner would know, since they mostly use this exhaust.

Apexi WS Sport doesn't sell without the Catback... that means you'll pay 450$ or so..

I have been looking at mufflers myself for a while actually,
here is one I found that looks okay, no huge a$$ tip or anything, chrome, universal and cheap....

here is the auction = http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1834901809

i think it looks nice, but the question is.. how does it sound?

buy a genuine APEXi N1 style and keep the silencer on. it looks better on the genuine model than my "N1 style" knockoff. with the silencer on, the car sounds nearly stock and still looks nice because the silencer is at least a 2" opening and is painted black. otherwise try to find an RS muffler like i'm trying to do. does anyone know where i can find one??

i like the idea of a silencer.. i don't feel mufflers without a wide, stock looking back behind them.. this is just some thing sticking out, looks kind of ricey to me, no offense whatever floats your boat..

no believe me, my knockoff looks/sounds very ricey. if you buy the N1 style get the real thing! the canister is larger with the apex than mine. the silencer is probably at least a 2-2.25" opening compared to my smallish 1.5" opening on my knockoff. it seems like my silencer is choking my exhaust. my friend has a real N1 to be installed on his civic. it looks so much better. and in my opinion, the N1 looks good on a maxima provided it's mounted level. make sure the muffler shop installs it perfectly! get a real N1, keep the silencer on and the car sounds marvelous and you still probably get gains. i will test and tune with my muffler before going another route. does anyone wanna buy my straight bolt on 97-99 N1 style (cheap)? i will trade for someone's stock rear section and i'll give you my stock muffler. all i want is some $$ to weld on my new muffler. what will i get next? that's a secret lol.

it's usually only $20-$30 to get welded on. what they might do is chop off the existing muffler, add on a fitting, and weld on the new muffler on the existing pipe.

Yeah, I asked this same question not too long ago and didn't get many responses. If you find one let me know.

I have an Apexi N1, with no silencer, and it does not sound loud at all. At cruising speed you cannot hear the muffler. Also I have the resonator removed, and a custom B pipe. I love this set up.

wow, that's pretty cool. i don't know why my setup is so loud. it seems like there's no muffler at all however i do have a ypipe. my knockoff is definately smaller than the original. i don't imagine it having the same amount of sound absorption as the real N1.

Well from what I heard, they Y pipe will give me more sound. But I really don't care. I out on the silencer on my N1 and I'm like WTF? This is too quiet, so I took it of and NO ricey sound for me. I have also thought about running a dual N1 setup. But I still want a spare.

Do you have a silencer on you N1?

the thing is i don't have a real N1. i have an "N1 style." the canister is smaller, with a 4" tip. yes, i have my silencer on because without it, the car is SO loud it drives me nuts. i have a budget ypipe and mandrel bent mid pipe. i've seen another maxima with a real N1 and it wasn't loud, so i thought my knockoff would be the same, but i was wrong. so i take it the real N1 is quiet. no more japanese muffler's for me.
