Todays Mod - No more egg yolks!

Instead of trying to match HID headlights I switched my corners to yellow to contrast them. Looks hot, but during the day my clear side markers look like they have an egg yolk in the middle.

I went to the hardware store and got Rust-Oleum High Temp Silver paint and lightly dusted the yellow bulbs with Silver. I cut the upper nubs off to make them run at the higher wattage to shine through the silver and ta da!!!! My corners are very clean looking and the light is bright yellow when I turn them on.

One great mod for my baby today!

Hey njmaxseltd,
How's this mod working out for you now? I'm thinking about doing this today. Does the paint chip or does the longevity of the bulb diminish?

Never had a problem, they were just dusted lightly with silver paint to mask the orange a bit. Color at night stayed basically the same.

I just finished it last night. I bought some Rust-Oleum High Temp Silver paint like njmax suggested and painted some amber 1157 bulbs. I actually convered the entire bulb with paint. The end result? No orange tint shows throught he clearance light at all. But when i turn it on at night, they are bright orange....just like on all the Audi's and BMW's. I'll post a quick write up and pics when I get the chance...
