Hey you guys, is it bad for my '96 Max to go up to 5k RPM?

Is it good for any car to go up to around 5k even 6k?

The reason why i ask is, when i go up that high, i feel like i just took 5 years away from my Max.

 

i don't think it should be done consistently, but every now and then, i'm sure it's fine...if i remember correctly, there was a thread a few days ago talking about how often people take it past 5k, don't remember how many people said what though

 

As long as your car is fully warmed up, has good oil in it, there is absolutely no reason not to redline it. Your gas mileage will suffer but that's about it. As long as your shifts are smooth and you're not dumping the clutch your car was designed to run to redline thousands of times.....

If you take the car above 5k, your pistons will shoot through the hood and all your belts will shred J/K


It shouldnt do anything. My car see 6k plus on a daily basis
