Go to the How2 section of http://www.maximadriver.com/ ,scroll down and you'll see the link to the VB install docs.

Btw Ian, it took me 4 hours to replace and install the VB mod without anybody's help.

Note:
In the Step 1 document you'll see a diagram with the hand holding the stopper ring. I found out afterwards that if you tilt the picture over so that the words "Figure 1" is on the right hand side that will be a true picture of how the harness is located when you peer down into the engine bay.

Be sure and have EVERYTHING you need ready BEFORE you start. It's very direct install if you follow the directions exactly. A bit of advice, make sure you layout all the bolts (i think there was 13 of them) in the same position you took them off on the ground on a clean rag (i.e. same pattern as you took off, so you put them back in the same holes). Reason is not all bolts are the same size, so be careful. Also when you drop the VB, check the two flat O-ring gaskets that go between the VB and the upper tranny case. If cracked or broken, replace them now. Trust me on this one, it took me 3 days and 3 total installs to find that ONE of those was broken and it would not let the tranny engage 3rd gear at all. It's only a .05 cent gasket (if you could buy it alone) but it will give you headaches. Also, don't over torque the bolts to the pan and sandwich out the gasket. This is a common mistake and will cause leaks. If you have any questions at all, feel free to post me and ask me since I feel like since I had to install, uninstall, re-install 3 times I could probably do it with my eyes closed now. I would hate for you to go thru the headaches I went thru since it's a GREAT mod once in correctly.

Note how the linkage pin is positioned before taking out the vb.

When you finally take out the last bolt, lower the vb down very slowly and carefully. There is a spring that sits vertically on top. Note where that spring sits when you get to reinstalling the vb.

I knew I was forgetting something when I was typing. Don't you just hate that?

LOL Hindsight is 20/20...
In retrospec I can't believe that I had actually did the vb switch all by myself and with my limited mechanical skill.
I made one slight boo-boo and that was not installing the linkage pin properly. I had to guesstimate how it was supposed to line up because I didn't look at everything carefully.

I just did it methodically and extremely carefully. I even made a blowup of that bolt diagram and color keyed it so I could keep all of the bolts in the right places.

I still have one unused can of brake cleaner left over!

One last thing: Check the bag that Don shipped the vb mod in. Reason for that was after I had finished installing the vb I found this metallic "pill" in the bag. I was shocked and afraid that it fell out of the vb. After speaking with Don directly it was determined that it must have rolled off of his workbench and into the bag. Whew!

I've got theinstall going now (laptop in the garage)

I can't find the harness to remove that pin from in figure 1 to save my life.

Can anyone help me out here?

Is it up front by the radiotor/fans, is it in the back directly over the drain pan!?!?

I just don't see anything even similar to the picture, even with it turned so FIGURE 1 is on the right.

Ian,
I couldn't find that pin myself for the life of me until after the install...my car was up on jacks and I wound up using a box to support the vb while it was still attached to the harness.

BlackCat, do you have it? Anyone?

Unless somebody here knows I'll dig up my documents when I get home.

Nevermind, I got it.

My next question is:

Whenremoving the oil pressure sender to put the T in, how do you get the sender off? Is it a deep socket ratchet I need? What size? I just tried a 22mm Deep Socket, and no dice. (too small)

Thanks,
IanS
