Painting a light bulb? anyone?
Painting a light bulb? anyone?
.. I know this came up before in another thread, but i can't find it..
Does anyone know of a flourescent paint that I can use to paint my light bulbs? I don't like how the orange from the bulbs shows through the clear lenses, I want to paint them silver and still have them blink orange. This has been done before, right?
Anyone know of such paint and where to get it?
thanks

I got some at Wal Mart
You can purchase a glass paint/stain at Wal Mart. It is in their crafts section. It is a two stage process. First stage is a conditioner and the second stage is a paint/stain. It should work well for what you want it to do.
Good luck!

It's not flourescent, it's translucent.
I did this a while ago, I bought some translucent silver acrylic from the local art supply place and hand painted them. Make sure the glass is very clean before you paint, don't touch the glass or it will bubble up there when the bulb heats up. Thin the acrylic until it's not much thicker than watercolor and apply it to the blub with a high quality blush with soft, fine bristles. When you're done painting and it's almost dry, brush it with some clean water to eliminate any brush marks and let it dry. Reinstall and you're done.

I did that mod this past Sunday. The Philips bulbs are 25 bucks - OUCH.. the paint cost 5 bucks. Use High Temp paint. Works perfect.
