Im going to polish my valve cover tom . I have a coat of aluminum paint on my valve cover. If I take some really coarse sand paper should this come off easily, its engine enamel!. Also whats wet sanding? If I go to a a homedepot should they have all the correct sand paper to get the job done? And whats the best aluminum polish, and where can I get some?

Home Depot should have the right sandpaper, but it may take you a while to get the paint off. Then you have to sand deeper to get the grooves out and work you way up until the valve cover is shiny. I used Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish which can be found at Autozone or any auto parts store. Steel wool grade 0000 also helped me out in polishing the valve cover.

wet sand staring with 400,600,800,1000,1500 and 2000 grits. Then buy some Mothers Mag and aluminum polish and start buffing till you see yourself in it. As far as the intake manifold be prepared to grind and sand ALOT!!

If you dont think it will come out like it was machined just ask any of the guys in the Queens or Long Island crews that have seen my motor

Check out mine and it will show what just a little work every few days will turn out...nothing near 1MAX2NV's work as I did all mine on the car.

I don't mind if yours have paint on it. I will just strip it off with chemicals. The one I got in was just sold few days ago. If you want, I can put you on my list. Then I'll e-mail you when I get one in and you got dibs on it. You can choose to buy it or not at that time.
