Hey what's up, just bought a 97 max SE, 5 speed, leather interior, pretty damn well fully loaded and its in great condition. I'm only 17 but I've been saving up for this car for years working summers and weekends, and have some cash left over to hopefully pimp it out some. Any suggestions? Anyways, just wanted to get my first post down cause this place looks pretty sweet.

Welcome to the board. Very good decision going with the 5-speed. My only regret about my car is it's an automatic.

id start with some clear corners....a must on any maxima....then go with an intake, y pipe, strut bar, rear sway bar, and finally some windshield wiper led's

Good choice on the 5-spd, but ever since I got Don's VB mod, I'm happy I got the Automatic. I never miss a shift, and shift as fast, if not faster, than 90% of the 5-spd drivers out there.
(With the exception of some people on this board, who shift like pros)
Anyway, welcome to the board. You'll find lots of good info here. You may want to start by reading the sticky posts at the top of the post pages.
It's nice to see teenagers and younger folks getting into the Maxima. It's not your father's 4-door sedan, that's for sure.

What is Don's VB mod? I can't do a search because it won't let me search for anything less than 3 letters (VB). I have a '98 auto Max and I've been wondering what to do to make it shift faster.

makes the tranny shift harder and faster, which may seem like it wears the tranny away, but it actually makes it last longer.....it costs somewhere near $500, and either you can have your Valvetrain body sent out and customized (downtime on your car) or you can just order one and swap them (no down time except for actaul installation)...its almost necessary if you go boost, and its nto a bad idea even if your not boosted

28k? Sweet find, man. I suggest using the search function avidly on this board, and also buying a service manual (and tools) to aid you in any troubleshooting you might have over the course of the life of the car.
Man, at 28k, you could really put a lot of work into that thing and hold onto it for a while.
