I need help with my girlfriend's Altima. I have been looking for a forum to ask this question, but no luck. Her car is a 1998 GXE. 2 days ago the car was driving fine and out of the blue the car started hesitating and it ran like one or two spark plugs were not firing. then, there was white smoke coming out of the exhaust. we pulled over and towed the car home. i looked at the engine once we got to the house and everything looked fine. no overheating that i could see. A mechanic said that more than likely the temp gauge did not indicate the high temperature and that the car must have blown the head gasket. I did not see any oil in the radiator or any water in the oil. Today, we got the car back from this mechanis and he sais=d that was only a temp sensor gone bad. well, we drove for about 45 minutes and the moment we turned the A/C it started all over again. if any of yo guys can enlighten me to whatever this could be, i would greatly appreciated.
