NOS or ECU ?
NOS or ECU ?
so its upgrade time once again... must be faster!! I want good track times, but I also want reliability and always on power.. so I am totally torn. ultimately I want custom s/c but i am still planning it out and need something to blow money on right now... I am thinking ECU since they hold their value very well, dont hurt the car in any way, and have been proven to give good gains (does anyone care to post the exact #'s ?)...
what would you all do?
and can anyone guess what say about 20hp (will ecu give me that) would do for a 1/4mile time, how much it would lower it
if i did nitrous it would be either a 65 or 75shot dry kit.. but i dont like nitrous much, .. but its tempting none the less

Im currently a consistent 15.1 at the track in 80 degree weather at an elevation of 250'. Not bad for an automatic. Once it cools down hopefully I'll break into the 14s and then I can really gloat about how great the JWT ECU is. I love it.
On the highway it's great as well. Cruising at 80+ seems almost effortless for the engine and at the same time, I've seen no ill effects on my gas mileage. Btw, I've had the ECU since the end of February of this year.
I am not sure what a chip would do for me I guess 3/10's is possible. However I do know what nitrous does. My first run last Sat was N/A and I ran a 15.7, second run 13 mins later with no changes other than pushing a button was 13.1, pretty hard to beat a mod that does that.
Hard not to like nitrous.

I always wonder what you ran NA.
15.7 to a 13.1

15.4? That's my fastest time so far too. Weird thing is that I can't get anything close to that lately. I'm in the 15.6 ranges. Strangely, now that I have the VB upgrade, I run even slower than without it.
Anyway, ready for 12s?
How much are the JWT-ECU's ?? Are they hard to install ?? Can you still run all the computer codes ?? Will normal stuff show up as a code...knock sensor...O2 sensor stuff like that ??
any other company make one ?

thanks for the input

www.cattmanperformance.com has them for $565, they just reprogram a stock ECU, so you still have all the other functions. A company called Gforce also makes one, check out www.maximadriver.com under the groupbuy section for more info.

I vote for nitrous over the ECU for two reasons:
1. I have it on my 95 GLE and as Jime said; I know what it can do and it is very hard to beat dollar for dollar.
2. As someone else mentioned, if you plan on going w/a s/c the ecu upgrade will either have to be redone (more money) or it will become useless (waste of money).
If you have a few hundred burning a hole in your pocket, go with the N2O. You will definetly like it and with a flick of switch can run with just about anybody as long as you do your homework first. There are quite a few people here on the org that are running N2O that will probably give more info than you will ever need.
